Nobukawa-ha Shito-Ryu 信川派糸東流歴史

Kuniaki Nobukawa at the age of 13 in the year 1960 started learning karatedo from a neighbouring young man, who was attending karate lessons. He was so engrossed in the art that he officially became a disciple of Chojiro Tani Sensei (direct discipline of Mabuni Kenwa – founder of Shitoryu).  In 1974, at the age of 27, Nobukawa presided over Tani ha Shitoryu Seiku kai, Inami Branch.

In the year 1988, at the age of 41, Nobukawa withdrew membership for various reasons. At the same time of his withdrawal, Tani ha Shitoryu Seiku kai, Inami Branch was certified by Tani ha Shitoryu Syuko Kai as a direct control branch.

Later, Nobukawa renamed his association as Tani ha Shitoryu kai Syuko Kai “Renshi kan”, which implies “develop one’s skill with ambition”. Under the leadership and training, the number of pupils and Branch Dojo has increased. Nobukawa Sensei produced a lot of famous players, some of them became representatives for the National Sports Festival and All Japan Championship and others participated World Championship.

At the same time, Nobukawa Sensei also joined and trained for 5 years under the guidance of Master Hayashi Teruo, who is the world-famous Souke of Japan Karatedo Hayashi ha Shitoryu Kai.

In January of 1998, great teacher Tani Chojiro Souke passed away. We, Renshikan, belonged to the Shitoryu Syuko kai Union which was approved by the resolution in the Ex-Syuko kai general assembly, Nobukawa served the union as vice executive president.

In November of 2000, Nobukawa was qualified as 8th Dan Hanshi by Shitoryu Syukou kai Union with appreciation for his exceptional skills.

In 2010 Souke Kuniaki Nobukawa also passed the 8th Dan testing examination at Japan Karate-Do Federation and was later awarded the title of Hanshi by JKF.

Nobukawa blend the teaching and technical expertise of Master Chojiro Tani and Master Hayashi Teruo and thus created the style ‘Nobukawa-ha Shitoryu Karatedo´.

We were reformed as Japan Karate-do Nobukawa ha Shitoryu kai and has been hitherto existing. We strive for the spread and development of Karate. We establish international branches as well as domestic branches in Japan.
